The first in Kay Bojesen’s world-famous wooden figurines, the Dachshund is curious and charming,
and would make the perfect gift for children and adults alike. Rosendahl have reintroduced three
old friends into the collection, the Dog, the Hippo, and the Rabbit to join the family of wooden
animals by Kay Bojesen.
Kay Bojesen’s wooden figures are full of personality, humour and craftsmanship. Throughout his
life, Kay Bojesen practiced the belief that good design should feel human, warm and alive. Learning
from the great Georg Jenson, Bojesen began working as a silversmith in Copenhagen. In the 1930’s
he realised that these was something particularly lively about wood, and his famous wooden figures
were born. Bojesen possesses a unique ability to bring wood to life, and as such his designs have
become international design icons. The first was the Dog in 1934, and over the next few decades,
Bojesen added a Zebra, a Bear, the cheeky Monkey, an Elephant and many more.
Kay Bojesen created his wooden figures with love, imagination and intelligence. Today his classic
designs are collectables and will be passed down the generations. They can be found in children’s
rooms around the world. Kay Bojesen’s designs are the ideal gift, wherever life is being lived and
played: christenings, birthdays, confirmations, graduations, weddings and anniversaries.
